Mind Glossop need peer mentor volunteers

Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind are looking for volunteers to become Peer Mentors for an exciting new scheme working with people living in supported housing in Tameside. The volunteer peer mentors will work with customers who may have been homeless or at risk of homelessness who now live in supported housing in provided by Threshold (www.thp.org.uk). The main emphasis of the work will be to coach and support the mentee over a three to six month period to help them move into their own independent accommodation.

They are looking for people from all walks of life who have good communication and listening skills, can show empathy and are non-judgmental. If you are interested you will need to have a positive outlook, enthusiasm, patience, flexibility and a willingness to learn. They are particularly interested in applications from people who have been homeless or lived in supported housing themselves. You will receive comprehensive training before starting to work with your mentees.
