Justice from the Buxton Beaks 15/16th July 2014

Jorden Power, aged 22, of Whitfield Avenue, Glossop, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and was given a 12 week prison sentence suspended for 18 months. The court said only custody was justified due to the nature of the assault upon a young man trying to calm a situation, and was aggravated by Power's record of previous convictions and breaches of community orders. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation and attend appointments with the Responsible Officer for an 18 month supervisory period.

Mark Andrew Campbell, aged 26, of Matlock Place Glossop, pleaded guilty to driving a car on Glossop Road without insurance and was fined £218 plus victim surcharge of £21 and costs of £35. His driving licence was endorsed with 6 points.

A Glossop woman, aged 34, was fined £200 plus costs of £80 and victim surcharge of £20 because her child failed to attend school regularly. Reporting restrictions prohibit publication of any details that might identify the child.
